The first steps of any activity usually leave a mark, sometimes unmistakable, in its subsequent development. This has also happened at the beginning of Psychology training in many of our countries. In Ecuador, the beginnings of Psychology were marked by Psychiatry and, above all, by education, so that the degrees offered at the Institute of Psychology of the Universidad Central del Ecuador (Central University of Ecuador), created in 1950, to people trained in Pedagogy, Medicine, Law, or Social Work, were that of “Teacher of Psychology” and “PhD in Psychology”, both achieved after two years of training.
