Environment, Social, and Governance Business: Challenges and Opportunities

This article provides an in-depth examination of the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESGESG) criteria within the business context, delineating the intricate balance between emerging challenges and opportunities. As the global business landscape evolves, ESGESG factors have become pivotal in shaping sustainable business practices, influencing stakeholder perceptions, and determining financial performance. We identify key challenges in ESGESG implementation, including regulatory complianceRegulatory compliance, data transparencyESG data transparency, and integration of ESGESG into strategic decision-making. Additionally, the research highlights significant opportunities such as innovation in sustainable technologiesInnovation in sustainable technology, enhancement of brand reputationBrand reputation, and access to green financeGreen finance. The findings suggest that while businesses face substantial hurdles in aligning operations with ESGESG criteria, there exists a vast potential for leveraging ESGESG for competitive advantage, stakeholder engagement, and long-term sustainability. The study contributes to the burgeoning literature on ESGESG in business by providing an evidence-based analysis of the current state of ESGESG integration, shedding light on the dynamic interplay between its challenges and opportunities. Implications for policymakers, business leaders, and stakeholders are discussed, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to foster a conducive ESGESG ecosystem. This research not only expands our understanding of ESGESG in the business context but also charts a path forward for sustainable and responsible business practices. Based on the above, it is intended to systematically review the bibliometric literature on Environment, Social, and Governance business in the Scopus database with the analysis of 113 academic and/or scientific documents.
