Tecnologico de Monterrey (TdM), founded in 1943, is a multicampus private higher education institution in Mexico with a presence in 32 cities and 20 of the 32 states of the country. The student community at the bachelor level comprises a population of 54,762 individuals served by a faculty of 2084 full-time professors. Faculty and academic programmes are organised into six schools aligned with the following academic divisions: School of Engineering and Sciences, School of Business, School of Architecture, Art and Design, School of Social Sciences and Government, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and School of Humanities and Education. TdM’s commitment to sustainability has evolved over 30 years, leading to the current goals set out in its Climate Change and Sustainability Plan 2025. In this chapter, we present the results of our analyses of the responses of 590 student respondents to a survey, from which it is apparent that TdM students perceive the primary focus regarding sustainability issues in their academic programmes to be along the environmental dimension, followed closely by the social and economic dimensions. The respondents ranked the sustainability competences their programmes instilled, and the results show that Interpersonal relations and collaboration, Systems thinking, Anticipatory thinking, Critical thinking and analysis, and Communication and use of media were ranked the highest. The pedagogical approaches employed by faculty were also ranked, with Project- or problem-based learning and Case studies ranked the highest. In addition to the separate rankings of sustainability competences and pedagogical approaches, the survey responses were analysed for a correlation between the competences and pedagogical approaches in order to determine the main competences developed by the undergraduate programmes and the pedagogical approaches that develop the most competences. The top three competences developed by TdM undergraduate programmes were: Tolerance for ambiguity and uncertainty; Interdisciplinary research; and Justice, responsibility, and ethics. The pedagogical approach with the strongest correlation with developing sustainability competences was Traditional ecological knowledge, followed by four pedagogical approaches with equal correlation strengths: Lecturing, Eco-justice and community, Place-based environmental education, and Supply chain/life cycle analysis. The survey results show that, from the students’ perspective, their academic programmes develop sustainability competences through identifiable pedagogical approaches.
