This chapter covers the general specifications for materials used for the construction of offshore steel structures. When material other than steel is used as a structural material, documentation is to indicate the mechanical properties, toughness, fatigue, and corrosion characteristics of the proposed material. Where such materials are used in combination with steel, galvanic effects are to be accounted for, as applicable.
