Investigating the Drivers of Job Satisfaction in Libya’s Public Sector Employment: Case Study of Ministry of Economy

Workplace, promotion, and equity are important factors that influence employee satisfaction in the government organization. Previous studies in Western countries have established the association between these factors and employee satisfaction. However, there is a lack of related studies in Libya that could extend the understanding of the relationship between these factors and job satisfaction. This study is conducted to address this gap. Specifically, this study aims to explore the factors that influence employee satisfaction in Libyan public sector organizations. The finding in this study shows that workplace promotion and equity have a significant role as predictors of employee satisfaction in Libya. The finding clarifies that management in public sector organizations in Libya needs to ensure that the employees are well satisfied and have the ability and encouragement to be satisfied and skills to maximize employee satisfaction with the recently acquired skills. This study extended the discussion and the understanding of the employee factors that influence employee satisfaction in public sector organizations in Africa, specifically Libya, a developing country in North Africa.
