Public-private partnerships (PPPs) are considered crucial for addressing the significant challenges related to financing and managing urgently needed infrastructure in Africa. Most research on this subject focuses on the costs, benefits, and practical implementation of these partnerships. However, insufficient attention has been given to the competencies and skills required by public managers to engage effectively with private sector partners. In examining existing studies on this topic, the chapter critically assesses the adequacy of current administrative training and education programs in Africa. The analysis suggests that there are substantial deficiencies in training that need to be addressed. Partnership and collaboration between universities in Africa and those in the Global North could play a significant role in addressing these challenges.
