Comparing the Drucker-Prager and Mohr-Coulomb Criteria in Slope Stability Analysis Using ABAQUS
摘要
This paper compares the Drucker-Prager (DP) criteria with the Mohr-Coulomb (MC) criteria for slope stability using ABAQUS. A new equivalent strength reduction method is proposed based on the traditional c-θ reduction method for the MC criteria. The stability of a homogeneous soil slope is simulated using both criteria. Numerical investigations show that the DP criteria can effectively replace the MC criteria when using the proposed equivalent strength reduction approach for evaluating slope stability. Additionally, the DP model converges faster and provides a more conservative factor of safety (FoS) than the MC model.
