Insecurity and Justice in Academia: Exploring the Interplay
摘要
This chapter presents theoretical perspectives that highlight the complexity of the relationship between job insecurity and organisational justice, with a specific emphasis on the overall justice of organisations that has been neglected in job insecurity research. Although the main interest in organisational justice in the context of job insecurity stems from its potential to prevent job insecurity from occurring or buffer its adverse effects, by reviewing different theoretical perspectives and related empirical studies, we demonstrate that perceived fairness may play a much more complex role in job insecurity and its outcomes than previously thought. We illustrate the interplay between insecurity and justice using a large sample of higher education employees from ten countries, provide practical implications, and suggest directions for future research.
