Bites from various creatures are common injuries and have the risk of causing infections and other complications. Infections from mammal bites have the risk of spreading to deeper tissues, so type and location of the wound should determine management and closure to appropriately mitigate infection risk and facilitate healing. Prophylactic antibiotics should be used prudently to prevent infection and signs of infection should be found and addressed early if they occur. Insect and reptile bites may have the risk of causing systemic damage without adequate management. In this chapter, we review these wounds and their management in four different bite cases: dog, cat, human, and arachnid.
