There has been growing acceptance of the crucial role that schools play in children’s mental health. Comprehensive School-Based Mental Health Services (CSBMHS) include a range of resources and interventions that “promote positive school climate, social and emotional learning, and mental health and well-being while reducing the prevalence and severity of mental illness” (Hoover S, Lever N, Sachdev N, et al. Components include collaborative partnerships between school systems, communities, families, and highlight prevention, early intervention, and treatment services. Community mental health providers augment the mental health supports offered by school-employed mental health professionals. This chapter explores comprehensive, school-based mental health services through case discussions.
