Heart disease in children includes a wide variety of congenital and acquired conditions that cannot be completely reviewed in this brief discussion. This chapter will focus on the evaluation of the school-aged child with common cardiac findings or conditions, including heart murmurs, supraventricular tachycardia, and myocarditis. Special attention will be given to the cardiovascular assessment and when to refer to a pediatric cardiologist.
