Constipation
摘要
Constipation is a common complaint in children and adolescents. The student with constipation typically has stools that are hard in consistency or loose, may strain to stool, or have less frequent bowel movements. Many factors can contribute to constipation including withholding bowel movements while at school, changes in diet and eating schedules, changes in bathroom routine, medication use, and other medical conditions. This chapter presents two clinical cases of students with constipation, and discusses initial evaluation and disposition, etiologies for constipation, and non-pharmalogic and pharmalogic treatments.
