This chapter will present three cases of acutely ill students, and discuss the application of the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (appearance, work of breathing, and circulation to the skin), the interpretation of vital signs, the utilization of the ABCDE approach (airway, breathing, circulation, disability, and exposure), the implementation of the SAMPLE mnemonic, and determination of disposition.
