As school-aged students have many health needs, including physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing needs, the school healthcare provider must be cognizant of these various aspects of students’ wellbeing and work to promote overall wellness in the student body. In this chapter, we take a population health-based approach to student wellness and balance. The goals of this chapter are to (1) discuss four key population health principles to guide development and implementation of wellness initiatives, and how they can be coordinated through the school health provider’s office, and (2) provide a model for educational design of interventions aimed at promoting wellness in a student body.
