Music Therapy in Educational and Cultural Contexts
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of children’s educational and cultural rights in kindergarten, school and community contexts. The right to music is enshrined in the UNCRC. The chapter focuses on kindergarten and preschool settings, inclusive and non-inclusive school settings and cultural contexts and reviews relevant research, practices and policies to exemplify how musical rights are currently addressed and conceptualized. The discrepancies between the policy level and the reported realities of children’s and especially disabled children’s rights to music show the relevance and importance of more research in educational and cultural settings. The chapter points to a need for more nuanced policies, but also to the need to develop practices that aspire to adhere to more ambitious policies and aim at challenging approaches and practices that limit children’s rights.
