Analysis of E-Waste Management on Environmental Hazards and Population Health Impact

The management of electronic trash (e-waste) is a significant concern because of its harmful environmental effects and possible risks to public health. The increasing number of electronic devices worldwide leads to substantial environmental and health problems due to inappropriate disposal and insufficient management of e-waste. This research examines e-waste management strategies, with a particular focus on the environmental risks associated with e-waste build-up, recycling, and disposal, as well as how they affect public health. This paper investigates the origins and components of e-waste, such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants, through an in-depth analysis of literature, regulations, and case studies. These toxic substances have the potential to seep into soil and water, polluting ecosystems, and posing risks to human health via exposure routes. Furthermore, informal e-waste recycling methods, which are commonly carried out in underdeveloped countries without proper safety protocols, worsen health hazards for workers and local residents by exposing them to dangerous chemicals and contaminants. The article assesses the efficiency of existing e-waste management solutions, such as recycling, reuse, and safe disposal procedures, in reducing environmental and health consequences. Identified issues include insufficient infrastructure, low knowledge, and poor enforcement of rules, emphasising the necessity for complete integrated measures to tackle e-waste management.
