This chapter focuses on tenured participants’ distinctive work roles, responsibilities, and mobility experiences. These are identified based on the narratives and illustrations that exemplify how various capitals were appropriated, desired, and applied by the participants to achieve upward academic mobility to tenured positions in Japanese universities. The chapter also demonstrates how the tenured migrated academics enacted an academic mobility agency and habitus to apply various capitals they accumulated along their transnational mobility spaces and life trajectories to assume R-T-S academic roles as tenured faculty in Japanese universities and academe.
