The authors explore the implications of the introduction of artificial intelligence in the educational environment, in particular its role in teaching foreign languages at the university level. The paper thoroughly examines the key benefits and drawbacks of implementing artificial intelligence in higher vocational education. Furthermore, it meticulously analyzes the linguistic and instructional capabilities of ChatGPT within the realm of the teaching process. The research methods include analytical work on various sources and provide methodological strategies for classroom and extracurricular service-learning activities in the foreign language learning process. Study purpose: to assess the viability of implementing ChatGPT in foreign language education and to explore the characteristics and instances of integrating artificial intelligence technologies within the educational sector. Objectives of the study include analyzing the potential of ChatGPT and assessing its applications in university-level foreign language instruction; to consider real cases of artificial intelligence technologies implementation in Ukrainian and foreign universities and to analyze our own experience of its application in foreign language classes. The authors of the article make a convincing conclusion: artificial intelligence is a powerful tool that optimizes a wide range of operations, thereby increasing the efficiency of the organization of the educational process. Special attention is paid to the problems of artificial intelligence application in engineering universities. The study's findings can be utilized by educators, educational program developers, and technology creators to enhance foreign language teaching methodologies.
