Design Thinking as a mindset focuses on understanding context and continuous engagement with people, setting them at the heart of the practice so as to determine types of problems to be solved, metrics that drive success and emerging business growth from solving the problem. As a term, it has been closely linked with entrepreneurship and innovation models. However, there is a variety of Design Thinking models which bring forward and put emphasis on different aspects of design process. The aim of this paper is to search for common ground between the design thinking process (DTP) models and their comparison on the basis of a Design Science Research Methodology Comparison Framework (Avison & Fitzerald, 2006). To address this issue we first surveyed existing literature through Science Direct Database, case studies and findings for different (DT) methodology approaches and then compared the DTP models using the Avison and Fitzerald framework (2006). Data revealed common characteristics but also points of differentiation between the Design Thinking Models, in philosophy, model format, product development, tools and techniques used.
