The effectiveness of social consolidation depends on the directions, arsenal of methods, means of organising activities with young people, in particular in the territorial community (at the place of residence), aimed at ensuring the components of social activity. Data confirming the problems of the development of social activity of young people, as well as the identification of desires and experiences of participation in social activities in the territorial community were collected by focus groups with young people (representatives of various territorial communities – activists of student self-government) (n = 25) and by an online-questionnaire with students of a Ukrainian higher education institution (n = 145). Data analysis was conducted by descriptive statistics. The analysis of the respondents’ answers in the focus groups was conducted by thematic analysis. The article reveals the peculiarities of youth activity development and the role of the territorial community in this process; analyses the experience of European countries in organising youth activities in the territorial community, and outlines promising areas for the development of youth activity in the post-war period in Ukraine. Taking into account the experience of European countries in the development of youth activity, the prospect of studying European practices and their adaptation to the real conditions and possibilities of Ukrainian social education practice is determined. The main methods used in the study are theoretical analysis, synthesis, systematisation, generalisation, and comparison.
