Arrowheads from Graves 3 and 4 of Mound 3 of the Kichigino I Burial Ground: The Correlation of Composition and Mass

This research aims to analyze the correlation between mass, type, geometric dimensions, and metal composition of the 233 arrowheads. Arrowheads made from pure copper or copper with a small admixture of arsenic have a wide diversity of mass. Among them, there are light ones, whose mass is less than 2 g, and quite heavy ones, up to 4.7 g, but most of them have a mass in the range of 2.4–3.7 g. Arrowheads, made of As-Sb bronze, in total, are heavier. In this group, the weight of specimens less than 2 g is extremely rare; in most cases weight of these arrowheads varies between 2.6 and 4.1 g. Arrowheads made of pure Cu have a correlation between the mass and the length of the tip. As-Sb alloyed bronze arrowheads have a strong correlation with mass and width. The correlations between all parameters were not significant for arrowheads made of Cu with an As impurity of approximately 0.1%.
