Structural Elements of the Stone Circle of the Late Bronze Age Burial Mound Located in the Southern Part of the Trans-Urals
摘要
This paper presents the results of calculating metric indicators of stones from the stone circle under a Bronze Age burial mound to calculate the total area of stone slabs. The material is represented by structural elements in the stone circle of Burial mound 10 of the Zvyagino-1 cemetery. The Zvyagino-1 cemetery belongs to the Fedorovo culture of the Late Bronze Age (17th–16th century BCE) and is located in the territory of the Southern Trans-Urals. The metric indicators of all 229 stones comprising the circle were measured, and the areas of all building elements of the tombstone structure were calculated. Additionally, a macroscopic description of the rocks from 46 samples of the stone circle was performed. The stones covered a total area of 22.9 m2. The largest slabs, which make up to 80% of the area, were quartzite sandstones measuring up to 150 × 90 cm. The second group consists of serpentinite rocks, which occupy up to 14% of the total area and measure 50 × 55 cm. The backfill material consists of small fragments of the same rock. The potential locations of raw material deposits have been identified as follows: quartz rocks located 3 km away and serpentinite rocks in close proximity to the site.
