This study explored the design and evaluation of an Augmented Reality (AR)-assisted tool for Breast Self-Examination (BSE) aimed at enhancing Breast Self-Awareness (BSA). The tool leverages AR technology to provide personalized, real-time visual guides for BSE, analyze results, and offer enhanced guidance. We identified user needs through interviews and surveys and investigated the AR tool's feasibility in BSE through prototyping and usability testing. Our findings demonstrate AR's positive impact on BSE, with participants appreciating the personalization and visualization provided, potentially encouraging more frequent examinations and greater attention to breast health. While the technology showed potential to increase engagement and awareness, it also highlighted issues such as privacy concerns, user anxiety stemming from unfamiliarity with AR, and practical challenges in implementation. Design recommendations were developed to address these challenges, including features like AR tutorials, body filters, and integrated educational content.
