This study investigates the integration of serious games and gamification into handwriting practice for children with motor dysgraphia using the SensoGrip system, a pressure-sensitive pen designed to assist with handwriting difficulties. The primary aim was to explore how these games can be designed to enhance motivation for handwriting practice. Utilizing a Design Thinking approach, the study engaged deeply with end-users through surveys and workshops involving children, parents, teachers, and occupational therapists. The survey revealed that children are highly engaged with digital games, particularly learning, strategy and action games. Workshops provided deeper insights into game design, highlighting the need for simple, intuitive mechanics and therapeutic elements like pressure, tilt, and speed functions. Participants generated 89 game ideas across various categories, with common themes including sports, nature, and everyday activities. The workshops emphasized the importance of user-centered design, ensuring games are engaging and effective for improving handwriting skills. Future steps include iterative testing and refinement of game prototypes to cater to the diverse needs of children with motor dysgraphia, incorporating adaptive difficulty levels and personalized feedback.
