This chapter focus on the effect of viscoelastic fluids. For this reason, the following analyses are restricted to a one-dimensional infinite-width film casting configuration and inertia and gravity are neglected. In contrast to Newtonian fluids, there is no unique constitutive equation for describing the correlation between stress and deformation for viscoelastic materials. Therefore, the chapter starts with an overview of typical viscoelastic constitutive equations. After a detailed literature review, viscoelastic film casting models are derived for three different constitutive equations, and the different situation of the initial stress boundary condition as compared to Newtonian fluids is discussed.
