Incongruency of Dipole Asymmetries Seen in Large Radio Surveys

Recently two large radio surveys, Very Large Array Sky Survey (VLASS), carried out at Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA), and the Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey (RACS), carried out using the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP), have shown dipole asymmetries in their number counts to be of significantly different amplitudes. Even the directions of these dipoles do not seem to be consistent with each other. These dipoles are congruent neither with other such dipoles from previous large radio surveys nor with the dipole seen in the cosmic microwave background (CMB), supposedly arising due to the Solar system peculiar velocity. As significant discrepancies between various cosmic dipoles have bearings on the Cosmological Principle (CP), the basic tenet of the modern cosmology including the standard \(\Lambda \) CDM cosmological model, it is imperative that these radio dipoles be examined in detail to ascertain the source of disagreement amongst them, which we strive to do so here.
