Neuropsychological testing has had a long-standing role in the evaluation of cognitive and emotional domains with respect to traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), including mild TBI (mTBI) or concussion. More recently, an abbreviated form of neuropsychological testing, commonly called computerized neurocognitive tests (CNTs), has been developed. This testing has dramatically improved the usability of and access to neurocognitive evaluation and is now widely employed in management of concussion in many settings. This chapter seeks to describe the historical role of neuropsychological testing, the evolution of CNTs, the advantages and limitations of this testing, and current use recommendations.
