This chapter presents a new translation of Klein’s “Erlangen Program,” updating the older one produced by Mellen W. Haskell [Klein 1872/1893*]. Haskell studied under Klein in Leipzig and Göttingen, taking his doctorate in 1890 before going on to the University of California in Berkeley, where he taught for over four decades [Parshall/Rowe 1994, 209–210].
