Warning Signs and Risk Factors for Employees at Risk of Suicide
摘要
Suicide is a pervasive problem and has important implications for Human Resource leaders. Suicide deaths in the workplace have increased by a staggering 34% over the last 10 years (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2021). Workplace suicides continued to rise in 2019. https://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2021/workplace-suicides-continued-to-rise-in-2019.htm ). People in workplace leadership roles are ideally situated to reduce suicide risk by educating their managers and employees to recognize and respond to those in crisis. While suicide cannot always be prevented, knowing potential risk factors and warning signs is the first step to getting vulnerable employees the support and resources they need. This chapter focuses on these warning signs, risk factors, and concrete steps to take for employees at risk of suicide.
