A Digital Technology Capability Framework for Entrepreneurial New Product Development in Resource-Constrained Environments
摘要
New product development is a resource-intensive process. This paper explores how small enterprises in resource-constrained environments can leverage digital technologies for new product development success by focusing on essential capability development. Utilizing an integrative literature review, the paper synthesizes empirical and theoretical insights to present a framework based on dynamic capabilities theory that emphasizes capabilities such as resource orchestration, network building, adaptive learning, digital competence, absorptive capacity, and innovation capabilities that enable small firms to leverage affordable and accessible digital tools to enhance new product development activities and meet market needs effectively. This study provides a guideline for both entrepreneurs and enterprise-supporting organizations in fostering NPD success despite resource limitations. The framework extends the dynamic capabilities literature by offering practical strategies for resource-limited firms to achieve competitive advantage and sustainability in challenging environments.
