The Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) stands as a beacon of innovation in the realm of educational technology, offering educators and learners a dynamic platform to engage with course materials and collaborate seamlessly. Its widespread adoption across diverse educational settings underscores its significance as a transformative tool in modern pedagogy. This study, conducted among computer science students at the University of North Texas, taps into the technical acumen of this cohort to delve into the intricacies of usability within the Canvas environment. Following the methodological framework outlined by usability expert Jacob Nielsen, the study meticulously examines the usability challenges inherent in the Canvas LMS. By soliciting feedback from a targeted group of students, the research aims to not only pinpoint areas of improvement but also categorize these challenges across different facets of the user experience. The robustness of the study’s methodology is underscored by its high Cronbach’s alpha rating of 0.969, affirming the reliability and consistency of the survey instrument employed.
