The BBC’s Chief International Correspondent Lyse Doucet started out her reporting career as a freelancer in West Africa. She has since been posted to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Jordan and Israel and now travels from a base in Britain. Throughout her career she has returned to Afghanistan to report on the changes wrought by regime change. Lyse has fought many battles during her career, many of them due to her strong Canadian accent which has sometimes been seen as “a problem” within BBC reporting circles. She is passionate about her vocation as a journalist and believes in the importance of having a strong network of contacts. She is a mentor for many younger journalists whom she has helped guide to reach their goals. Most recently Lyse has been reporting from Ukraine, Israel, Sudan and Iran.
