Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that involves repositioning of gingiva and possibly bone in order to establish a healthy level of periodontium related to the cementoenamel junction or any restorative margin. It is classified into two categories: functional and esthetic. In this chapter, we review the crown-lengthening preoperative evaluation, surgical approach,and factors that may affect the result.
