Successful acne scar treatment requires following a sequence based on clinical findings. While many acne scarring plans are heavily based on one treatment modality (e.g., one common option is to use ablative lasers only), the most effective treatment plans will evaluate and treat each scar type individually. When treatment plans are approached comprehensively to address each scar type, following a multimodal technique-based sequence, patients can experience a significant improvement within one combination treatment session. A highly effective “Quattro” combination of treatments includes CROSS (chemical reconstruction of skin scars); cannula subcision; resurfacing using fractionated erbium laser, CO2 laser, or microneedling; dermal fillers; and occasionally, punch excisions. This comprehensive treatment plan addresses the full range of atrophic, rolling, icepick, and box scars commonly found in patients with acne scarring.
