Conclusions and Future Directions
摘要
This chapter concludes the book by reflecting on the evidence in the previous chapters and brings the scenario surveys covering 50 years of scenario-based research up to date. The journey, from 1970s America, via Fishman, Klockars et al. and their authors of this book, to present-day UK, charts differences and constants, change and continuity. It reflects on recent changes to the way disciplinary issues are handled by the UK police. Taking a long view on police corruption, integrity, ethics, misdemeanours and misconduct, it revisits what has been learnt about the blue code of silence over the years and many papers and books. It goes on the challenge what seems to be the accepted wisdom of these studies, drawing on the data from later chapters of this book.
