The present seems to be marked by the immanence of environmental catastrophe and the mourning of a lost future. The loss of the worldloss of world seems irrevocable—no horizon for lifelife, no powerpower to recreate the universe. The new spleen not only increases the psychic sufferingsuffering that subjects experience in contact with others and with themselves but, through its planetary dimension, it also disrupts the experience of the present, which is subject to the catastrophic future.
