Diplomacy, Persuasion, and the Cost of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change

Domestic policy bears consequences for international security. This appears perhaps most clearly in the United States policy swings on climate change and the 2015 Paris Agreement between presidential administrations. This chapter examines the consequences on prestige, stature, and leadership that arise from the frequent and substantial changes from support to opposition that mirror the changes in presidential administrations in the US.
