The Most Impactful Challenges in Integrating Additive Manufacturing in Industry 4.0 Ecosystem

Additive manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing is among the most widely used technologies in the field of Industry 4.0, companies generally face many challenges when adding any new technology, it requires careful planning, effective communication and cooperation between various stakeholders within the company. This paper addresses the challenges of additive manufacturing implementation with respect to Industry 4.0 through the literature, we use Scopus database to obtain information related to the AM challenge and Industry 4.0, and to analyze this information we use the bibliometric software R studio and Vosviewer (visualization of similarities). The most influential challenges in integrating additive manufacturing with Industry was extracted and arranged in descending order based on the number of appearances, Addressing these problems is critical for realizing the full potential of integrating AM with Industry and reaping the benefits of increased flexibility and efficiency in manufacturing processes, Moreover, this study identifies the main affiliations and countries contributing to the field of research on this topic, as well as collaboration networks among the most prominent authors and sources. Finally, we offer the most critical future research avenues that have arisen from our study and must be addressed in order to develop the subject further.
