A Comparative Study on the Influence of Water Absorption and Infill Rate on the Vibrational Behavior of ABS and ABS-like Tapered Beams Manufactured with Fused Filament Fabrication and Stereolithography
摘要
Additive manufacturing technology, which is becoming increasingly accessible and is being used in an ever-wider range of applications, offers numerous advantages over traditional manufacturing methods. It is also known that some functional parts produced by additive manufacturing are subjected to vibration. This study investigated the effects of tapered angle, which is a geometric parameter, and differences in manufacturing method on the vibration behaviour of beams with different tapered angles produced from ABS material by stereolithography and fused filament fabrication technologies. Furthermore, the effect of varying the time of exposure to water on the amount of water absorption of the beams and the subsequent vibration properties was experimentally investigated. The findings indicate that the beams produced via FFF exhibited greater water absorption than those produced via SLA. In addition, a notable decline in the natural frequency values of the water-absorbing beams was observed. In conclusion, it can be stated that an increase in tapered angle and infill rates resulted in a decline in the natural frequency of the beams.
