Before an individual can practice pharmacy in the state of Alabama, they must pass the Alabama Multistate Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE) with a scaled score of at least 75. The MPJE consists of 120 multiple-choice questions (100 of which count toward the test taker’s score), and uses adaptive technology when selecting questions. The Alabama MPJE consists of both federal and state law, and is divided into three major sections: (1) Pharmacy Practice [83%]; (2) Licensure, Registration, Certification, and Operational Requirements [15%]; and (3) General Regulatory Processes [2%]. Competence Statements for the exam are available for review on the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) website.
