The chapter discusses the territorial and urban dimensions of reviving mountain villages, focusing on updating design approaches, methodologies, and tools. The introduction emphasizes the significance of considering the project as a collective and incremental generative process, which is essential for developing effective interventions and achieving tangible results in response to complex challenges such as climate change, the revitalization of mountain communities, and enhancing territorial resilience. Using the research-in-action case on the municipality of Piuro in Valchiavenna (Italy), the chapter presents design methods to create interpretive frameworks and define strategic visions through collaborative approaches. The process of defining the strategic vision for Piuro was framed around the landscape concept as a palimpsest. This framework enables generative connections among various territorial and local phenomena, facilitates the creation of collaborative environments that acknowledge and communicate complexity, encourages dialogue and partnerships among different disciplines and stakeholders, and links long-term envisioning with local intervention projects.

摘要
