Biological Products in Regenerative Medicine
摘要
Orthobiological treatments are based on the use of biological substances that modulate molecular and cellular signals to enhance the repair and regeneration of injured tissue. Its application can be extremely beneficial in sports medicine as it acts on tissues with a limited self-healing capacity. Harnessing the healing potential of these biological signals can accelerate tissue repair, improve symptoms, and shorten recovery times for the athlete. However, due to the great variability among the various orthobiologic products and the different ways of application, together with the variations of patient and pathology, there are obstacles against progress in optimizing their use. The intention of this chapter is to identify the wide variety of products available as well as the large number of application protocols described in the literature. Further research and investigation in this field is needed to advance the understanding of these therapies and improve patient outcomes.
