Measuring and Reporting Outcomes in Cleft Palate Repair
摘要
Outcomes of cleft palate repair are evaluated in three core dimensions: oronasal fistula occurrence, velopharyngeal function during speech, and maxillary growth. Each outcome is evaluated in different ways and at different times. This chapter reviews methods for measuring and reporting each outcome, along with key findings from previous studies comparing outcomes of alternative strategies for cleft palate repair. Other important perioperative outcomes of cleft palate repair are also discussed along with the rationale for measuring and reporting outcomes of cleft palate repair.
