Imaging of the Velopharynx: MRI
摘要
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for assessing velopharyngeal structure and function is an advancing area of research with numerous clinical applications in the management of cleft palate and velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD). This chapter will explore the basics of MRI, outline the advantages and disadvantages of MRI compared to traditional imaging techniques in cleft care, and discuss the application of MRI for velopharyngeal assessments. Lastly, we will provide insights into research advances related to MRI and explore how these innovations will likely impact cleft care and the application of MRI as a routine medical imaging technique used among children with cleft palate and/or VPD.
