From Empathy to Exhaustion: The Prevalence of Compassion Fatigue Among Physiotherapists
摘要
Physiotherapy is a profession in the health sector that not only takes mental pressure but also takes physical load when compared to most of the other healthcare professions. It is a profession where physiotherapists make their patients mobilize not only physically but also make their patients mobile mentally. Amidst the critical role played by physiotherapists, they are often underrated due to the core reason that they don’t have the title of Dr. Whereas we can see that physiotherapists are next in the race of under huge physical and mental disturbance after nurses yet there is very little research done when it comes to exploration of the job burnout and secondary trauma, they face due to their work. The present research explores the status of physiotherapists in handling job burnout and secondary trauma. The results show that physiotherapists are facing job burnout more than secondary trauma even though secondary trauma was also seen at a significant level. The research pays for ways to show the other side of the physiotherapist profession.
