In a progressively digitalized world, the management of data privacy has become a grave concern for organizations in all industries. To keep up with the modern world, incalculable online data is generated at unprecedented levels through digital means. Protecting these data is emerging as a business imperative for organizations that recognize that data is as an asset that has value in the collection, utilization, and sharing thereof. With the expansion of data-driven technologies, protecting personal information is not just a compliance matter in terms of legislation, but rather a crucial strategic business imperative for organizations. Many organizations have learned the value of data privacy retrospectively as a consequence of privacy failures and breaches. To avoid the repercussions of a privacy breach, this study proposes the design of a prequestionnaire to obtain insights into perceptions and practices related to data privacy in organizations. The designed prequestionnaire will be given to a group of registered honors students to collect data from organizations. Feedback from the prequestionnaire will be used to develop an artifact to promote awareness of data privacy protection in organizations. The artifact is expected to be a valuable tool for organizations to be educated on the dimensions of data privacy protection, thus avoiding the detrimental consequences of a data breach.
