The Role of AI in Enhancing Professional Performance Among Bahraini Journalists
摘要
This study sought to investigate the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies on the professional performance of journalists in Bahrain. It further explored the current status of AI within Bahraini print media and assessed journalists’ attitudes toward its integration into their profession. Employing a quantitative methodology, data were gathered through a questionnaire of 80 journalists in Bahraini press, selected using a comprehensive sampling technique. The findings revealed that many journalists in Bahrain utilize AI tools; however, their application is primarily voluntary and based on individual skill levels rather than being systematically integrated into daily work practices. Journalists recognize AI as essential to enhancing their capabilities and workflows, facilitating increased productivity, providing access to valuable insights, and enabling the rapid acquisition of data. Furthermore, these tools are perceived as valuable assets for fostering cultural diversity and enhancing intercultural communication. Additionally, the adoption of AI tools has invigorated journalists as a collective, leading to heightened enthusiasm for their work and yielding notably positive outcomes. This can be attributed to the reliability of the data generated, following rigorous auditing and monitoring procedures. However, the implementation of AI necessitates further experimentation and refinement. The study advocates comprehensive training for journalists to proficiently and ethically utilize these emerging AI tools, while also emphasizing the importance of meticulous scrutiny in the review of successful stories. Furthermore, it calls for additional research into the deployment of AI technologies across various media organizations and sectors.
