The higher cost of any construction project comes from the construction materials which form the larger cost. The estimation of project cost is an evaluation process of the forecasted construction cost and the reliability of this estimate imposes serious impact of the contractor expected profit. therefore, the cost management plays a key role in any construction project where the materials forms 50 to 70% of the total cost. Thus, construction materials became a crucial issue for the profitability of the construction projects. Construction materials have a strong influence on the consumed time, project cost, and quality. Therefore, this study attempts to review the site cost problems come from materials issues that occur during project implementation. It involves three parts namely; literature review, questionnaire, and real case study for construction project carried out in Iraq. The feedback from the questionnaire has been discussed and analyzed to determine the most significant problems associated with project material costs and calculate accordingly the percentage of the solved and unsolved issues.
