This chapter expands upon the key findings summarized in Chap. 4 , exploring cross-cultural considerations that emerged through the collaborative process of the Social and Emotional Learning International Research Network (SEL IRN). Conducting large-scale, multinational research on the complex topic of social and emotional learning (SEL) required carefully navigating the inherent challenges and embracing the unique opportunities of cross-cultural scholarly cooperation. As detailed throughout this chapter, the horizontal, inclusive approach taken by the SEL IRN proved vital in establishing culturally grounded practices across diverse global contexts. By empowering local teams to execute context-appropriate methodological approaches while facilitating systematic dialogue across sites, the collaboration fostered rich contextualized insights into both the universal and culturally nuanced aspects of SEL worldwide. The key themes explored here provide a guiding framework for addressing the challenges inherent in global research partnerships while cultivating collaborative environments that are meaningful and inclusive across diverse cultural contexts.
