This chapter explores the current landscape of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) interventions in China, Japan, and South Korea. By examining the diverse approaches to SEL implementation in these different cultural contexts, we identify shared themes, challenges, and opportunities for further development. The chapter begins by examining SEL interventions in China, Japan, and South Korea individually, detailing implementation efforts and specific examples across various demographics and educational levels. It then offers a comparative analysis of SEL approaches among these countries, highlighting similarities and differences. The comparative analysis reveals the influence of educational systems and policy landscapes on the design and implementation of SEL initiatives. Drawing from the country-specific analyses and cross-cultural comparisons, the latter part of the chapter offers tailored recommendations for SEL design and implementation in each country. It emphasizes the importance of contextualizing SEL interventions within local educational frameworks while incorporating insights from cross-cultural perspectives, thus advancing SEL theory and practice across diverse cultural landscapes.
